Ingredients
- 5 to 8 chicken wings
- Salt and pepper
- Oil, for frying
Sauce:
- ¼ C Water
- ½ C sugar
- ¼ C Garlic powder
- ¼ C Soy sauce
- ¼ C Teriyaki sauce
- 1 C Pineapple juice
- ½ Lemon, juiced
- ½ apple
- ½ orange
Instructions
- For the sauce
- In a small sauce pot over medium-low heat, add water and sugar. Whisk until sugar has dissolved. Add garlic powder, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice and lemon juice. Stir to combine and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and allow sauce to reduce for 20 to 25 minutes. Once reduced, allow to cool at room temperature and then place in the fridge to chill.
- For the chicken wings
- Heat a fryer to 500 degrees, or fill a large pot halfway with oil and place on high heat.
- In a large bowl, season chicken wings with salt and pepper. Carefully place chicken in oil and fry until cooked, 6 to 8 minutes depending on size. Test to make sure chicken is cooked to 165 degrees. Once done, place on a draining rack to cool.
- Add diced apple to the sauce. Cut the orange in half, and scrape orange juice and pulp into syrup. Mix well. Drizzle over wings, toss and serve.
