Marinara Sauce

Marinara Sauce

Yield: Makes about 2½ cups of sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 can (16oz.) chopped tomatoes
  • 1 can (6oz.) tomato paste
  • ½ cup water
  • 1½ tsp. sugar
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ¾ tsp. oregano
  • ¼ tsp. basil
  • ½ tsp. parsley
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Place first 3 ingredients in microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave on HIGH for 1-2 minutes or until onions and garlic are tender.
  2. Put all ingredients into saucepan and cook on the stovetop at a low heat for at least 15 minutes, but up to 1 hour. Stir occasionally. Remove bay leaf.

Notes

Equipment needed: Measuring cups and spoons, Knife, Large microwave-safe bowl, Plastic wrap, 1 large saucepan, Wooden spoon.
