Butterscotch Coffee Cake

  • 2C flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ C brown sugar
  • ½ C shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 6T milk
  • ¼C water
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Mix in a small bowl flour, baking powder and salt. Then cream the brown sugar and shortening. Set aside 1 C of mixture for topping.
  3. In a separate bowl mix together the egg, milk and water, then cream together all ingredients. Pour into a greased baking dish. Add the cinnamon to the set aside mixture and fold in. Sprinkle the top of the cake with the cinnamon mixture and bake 30 minutes.
